St. Simons Island - December Redfish - still biting!

We are deep into December and the Reds are still biting along with a very healthy trout bite.  I managed a trip out last week with my Dad and another fishing buddy and we were covered up in redfish from the start.  We are still fishing that rising tide in the St. Simons sound with live shrimp and a popping cork.  I've been hearing from my fishing buddies that the trout are starting to go deep though.  I would suggest fishing a bottom rig around the docks.

However, our day was perfect.  We had slight winds and an early morning fog kept a lot of boats at the docks.  With a really good GPS, a compass and two extra people to keep a look out - we made our way to one of my favorite spots.  We coolered a bunch of reds and a few trout too AND I was able to tag and release a beautiful 25 inch redfish.

My Dad with a beautiful Georgia Redfish - this one is still
out there since it was tagged and released!

Again, I love where I live and I know you would too.  There are excellent properties, both homes and condos, still available on St. Simons Island and around the Golden Isles.  But I can tell you that pricing is on the uptick so waiting will cost you in the long run!
