Today I am enjoying a quiet day to celebrate my birthday.  My girlfriend Mindy is planning on taking me out to dinner tonight and she has chosen Bonefish here on St. Simons. Bang Bang Shrimp here we come.   We do have some great restaurants on St. Simons and in Brunswick.  Mindy and I have a few that we seem to visit more often than others but we have tried most of the ones on the island.

Last night we stopped into Southern Soul BBQ for a couple of BBQ sandwiches.
Mindy likes to get the okra and mac-n-cheese while I usually get the potato salad and mac-n-cheese.  Funny but the part of Southern Soul I always look forward to is getting a bottle of RC Cola??  I get these whenever I'm at Southern Soul so it is a treat for me.  The BBQ is delicious and Southern Soul is very well known outside our little island.  It was featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives but has also been written up and featured in many places nationally, if you go to their website, see link above, check out their press page.  Southern Soul is definitely worth checking out and has a great location centrally located on the island across from the airport on the corner of the traffic circle.

I just heard a collective ‘huh’, St. Simons has an airport?  McKinnon Airport on St. Simons actually.  It provides fueling for private aircraft, maintenance, avionics, pilot services, up-to-date weather information and aircraft catering.  It also is a heck of an economic boost to St. Simons and Glynn County.  The airport is very busy and I’ve seen jets just under what you would expect to see from Delta landing and parked out there.  A few months back, I stopped and counted 25 jets in the Learjet and Gulfstream variety along with limos and a large number of black SUVs picking people up.  Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was vacationing on the island that weekend too.  The minority owner of the Miami Dolphins, Wayne Huizenga, flies in regularly.  We know this because his jet has a big Miami Dolphins logo on the tail.

During the April Golden Isles Association of Realtors monthly meeting, Ronnie Perry, on the Governmental Relations Committee, relayed that the economic impact of the airport is worth millions of dollars annually to our area.  There is currently a plan to invest 2 million dollars into revamping the public areas of the airport.

Christmas Creek Entrance

UPDATE: 10-25-13 The Christmas Creek entrance this year is to the North of the creek mouth.  As you go South along Cumberland Beach you'll see the shoaling a few hundred yards East of the mouth of the creek.  Enter Christmas Creek between the shoaling and the beach as you go South.  As you enter the entrance between the shoals and the beach, look for your hard right turn to go directly into the creek mouth.  Best to try at least an hour after low tide for that area.  If you plan on coming out after high tide, best to be at the mouth no later than 4 1/2 hours after high tide unless your boat draws less than a foot like flats boats and Carolina Skifs.  I like to go in about an hour after low tide and fish through the rising tide and then make my way out.   I made this update because this Blog post is one of my top posts which I wouldn't have know when I originally wrote it. Christmas Creek has some of the best fishing around and if you are new to it or would like to try

How to catch Blue Crabs on St. Simons Island

I know I love to eat our local blue crabs and if you do too, then here is an excellent video from Capt. Mark Noble.  Mark has been a long time friend of mine and he grew up on St. Simons Island.  There are many ways to catch blue crabs and in this video Mark can show you how he does it.  You don't need a boat either - I've caught some beautiful stone crabs with a crab net right off one of the many docks that surround the area.  Many times, I'll hang a crab net off the back of my boat while I'm fishing and catch plenty.  So a crab net off the St. Simons Pier or one or two of the crab baskets in this video and you can have yourself a big time. Here's Mark's website - he is one of the top charter captains around so check him out if you'd like to take a Golden Isles fishing charter.  http://www.georgiafishing.net I shot the video and edited this for Mark and as my reward, he let me take the crabs home for a terrific family crab boil!

My Real Estate Philosophy when working with clients.

A relationship that lasts a lifetime. So what sets me apart and why should you work with me?   I want to make your real estate experience, whether it is buying a home or selling your current home, a great one that you'll always remember.   For me, it's a relationship that lasts a lifetime. I enjoy utilizing current and emerging technology tools that are leaving many real estate agents trailing behind.   Technological developments in recent years have changed nearly every industry, and real estate is no exception.  Social Media, Video Presentation, Transaction Management Platforms and Data Driven Insights are all tools I use to impact property buying, selling and investing. When you hire me as your Realtor, I want you to know you are not simply a transaction to me.   I understand this can be one of the largest investment you’ll make and it can be a stressful time.   I work to bring that stress level down and I also try to help you remember this is an awesome time in your life.
